And in some cases, cook your food, too.

Reading up on Domino’s shopping guides is like having your own personal product concierge. We do the tedious part—deep-dive research, hands-on testing, and tapping experts for advice—so all you have to do is hit ‘add to cart.’ That’s why we call them Simply the Best.

The only thing better than a warm summer night is one spent around a fire pit. But gone are the days of having to get one professionally installed or searching through the backyard to find enough stray sticks for kindling. You can simply purchase one of the best fire pit tables online and generate flames on demand with the turn of a knob.

“Fire pit tables are completely self-contained, making it a very safe alternative to burning wood,” says Jason Dodson of South Dakota-based Designing Fire, a company that specializes in fire pit tables. “These tables extend your time outdoors by creating a fire that will instantly keep you warm. They also create an attractive look and ambiance for your outdoor space.”

If you’re ready for evenings of cozy, this-moment-demands-s’mores bliss, look no further than our list below, ranging in price, aesthetic, and heat capabilities; there’s an option for nearly every type of household.

Material: Concrete | Fuel type: Propane | Temperature control: Yes

Why we chose it: The perfect starter model.

Sturdy concrete? Check. Temperature control? Check. Adjustable flame? Check. Elemente ticks all the boxes with their Saum Fire Table, which is as stylish as it is functional. Topped with lava rock and complete with a valve and match ignition, this is an ideal model for any fire pit first-timer. No design detail is ignored, resulting in a gray pedestal-like gathering spot that will enhance any backyard space in need of a lounging area.

Material: Iron |  Fuel type: Wood and match | Temperature control: No

Why we chose it: An adorable (and affordable!) wood-burning model that can easily move from place to place.

While most of the fire pit tables on this list are powered by gas or propane, we love the look and function of Crate & Barrel’s Tremont Firepit. And if you’re not entirely sure about committing to a more expensive model, especially if you’re not in your forever home, it can help you create the temporary backyard hangout of your dreams. Not only is it priced at less than $450, it is easily portable so you can test it out in a few different areas and bring it along with when you move. While it lacks some fancy features like temperature control and a gas source—this is the more traditional route of wood as a fuel source—it still gets the job done as the bold centerpiece of any summer soiree, and comes with a mesh lid and poker to keep the flame contained. You even get a lid for the center to turn it into a proper table when not in use.

Material: Terrazzo | Fuel type: Propane | Temperature control: Yes

Why we chose it: Modern clean lines and terrazzo details elevate this square concrete model above the rest.

Anthropologie is no stranger to selling sleek and snazzy homegoods, but we’re starting to believe this fire pit is one of its best. The square shape invites everyone to come to the table (so to say), and its gorgeous white terrazzo design promises to not lose its luster over time. In fact, a bit of dirt and water damage may only add to its natural beauty (though it touts a weather-resistant material that should delay this process). In addition to its speckled appearance, the model is a statement-maker with exposed seals to give the impression of seamlessly-stacked stone.

Material: Natural oiled teak |  Fuel type: Bioethanol, natural gas, or liquid propane | Temperature control: Yes

Why we chose it: An eco-friendly alternative to most gas-guzzling mainstream models.

The versatility of the EcoSmart Teak Fire Table is unparalleled, offering buyers the ability to use eco-friendly bioethanol for either indoor or outdoor use. The unit’s teak wood design is already a unique departure from trendy slabs of concrete or stone-like construction, but the ability to safely use this unit inside (with the aforementioned bioethanol gas, formulated specifically for indoor use) is what really sets it apart. Enjoy it outdoors for cooler summer nights, or bring it into the living room during winter to create hygge vibes that will almost convince you that frigid temperatures aren’t always so bad.

Material: Concrete |  Fuel type: Propane | Temperature control: Yes

Why we chose it: You can have your fire pit table and eat from it, too, with this food-friendly, multipurpose model.

Limited outdoor space? No problem. Ditch the grill and invest in a two-for-one with Outer’s Fire Pit Cooking Set, complete with griddle pans and stands so that you can roast veggies more directly over easy-to-ignite flames for al fresco dinners. And when not in use, cover up the pit and rely on the large, ceramic stone spheres (that also prevent wind from snuffing flames) to construct an oversized coffee table for hosting guests. Then marvel at the scene you’ve created while everyone soaks in the sunset and the sounds of crickets.

Material: Concrete | Fuel type: Natural gas, liquid, or hardline propane | Temperature control: Yes (only if the electronic option is selected)

Why we chose it: No one will feel left out of the conversation when seated around this round pit.

Calling all party people! It seems like the majority of fire pit models these days are either square or rectangular, which doesn’t exactly encourage the same level of social interaction as a round one. Encourage your guests to bring it in and pull up a chair to enjoy this completely customizable (down to the stone color) iteration that can be purchased with electronic features for exceptionally easy use and care. In fact, you don’t even have to get up to control its temperature and flame size thanks to  a handy remote.

Material: Steel |  Fuel type: Propane or natural gas  | Temperature control: Yes

Why we chose it: A quality table you’ll likely be able to pass down for generations to come.

It may be one of the most expensive options on this list, but Room & Board’s Adara Fire Table will likely last for years with its sturdy, heavy design complete with a weather-resistance cover. This no-frills model is perfect for the family that will use it often and, perhaps, not in the most delicate way, which is a-okay considering at 140 pounds it’s as solid as a boulder. And its timeless, neutral look in either a white or graphite finish will blend into anyone’s outdoor scheme.

The best fire pit tables are more than just a heat source—though we made sure nearly all of our picks were easy enough to ignite for those of us that don’t exactly identify as pro campers. We based our top picks on price range; weather-resistant materials like concrete, teak, and steel; and most importantly, aesthetics, to help transform your back into an al fresco dining destination. And while we didn’t test all of these products out personally, we relied on Domino’s style team to lend expertise on size, shape, and brands. Plus, we consulted industry professional Jason Dodson, to walk us through the most important features of this outdoor centerpiece.

With the exception of our eco-friendly pick, the best fire pit table is an investment in your outdoor space. Each one on our list is made with materials that can stand up torain, snow, pollen, and dust. Look for concrete, wood, and even steel varieties that are durable enough to provide a cozy gathering spot for years to come..

Fire pit tables range in size to accommodate any outdoor living space, so keep the number of people in your family or that you typically entertain in mind. You’ll want to opt for a larger model if you feel like guests will be fighting to get close to the flames, especially in cooler months where it serves as a heat source, or to comfortably turn over a skewer or two. Our pro tip?The heavier the model, the better—If severe weather strikes, you’ll want the furniture to stay put amidst sudden gusts of wind since it isn’t permanently embedded in the ground.

Most fire pit tables will allow for natural or propane gasses, though one of our favorites is fueled by wood. Be sure to pick the type that works best for you and your lifestyle. The former two will obviously require the purchase of a tank and frequent replacement when gas levels are low. Though these purchases are inexpensive and can be found at any home improvement store, they do demand an extra level of effort to maintain (as opposed to simply lighting a piece of wood on fire).

Nearly any type of fire pit table will require you to install your own natural or propane gas tank, though the table itself should arrive intact and require minimal assembly. A few brands will offer free white glove delivery, though it’s a recommended add-on if you want to keep  setup quick, easy, and painless.

Height is very important, says Dodson. Think how you’ll want to gather around the space—Sitting? Standing? Cooking? Using it as a place to rest plates or drinks? This number will also determine how much heat you’ll be able to soak in if it’s a source of warmth. We also advise picking out a model that requires little to no assembly and is portable (Dodson agrees), that way if you decide to move or want to switch up the layout of your backyard or patio, you can easily do so. Plus, high-quality components like steel and powder coating should be kept in mind if  longevity is a concern. Dodson stresses that product safety, of course, is of the utmost importance.

“Absolutely,” says Dodson. He adds that they’re self-contained, which means you don’t have to worry about embers popping off the table or smoke stinging your eyes if you avoid wood-burning options.

The higher the BTUs (British Thermal Units), the hotter the fire pit table, Dodson explains.

You can use almost any surface under the fire tables, if it’s self-contained. Dodson says that the table should be placed on a solid and level platform or surface, however, for best safety and overall aesthetics. Some fire tables even have leg levelers so you can make them as stable as possible.

An outdoor living area is already a real estate upgrade, but you can heat things up with the addition of a safe, cozy, and alluring fire pit table that can be enjoyed year-round. Luckily for any prospective customer, there are a bevy of chic options to meet any criteria.
